We chatted with Sisteray this week, a four-piece from London. Inspired by the likes of The Smiths and The Strokes, it's no wonder why the quartet are sounding so good. Introducing... Sisteray.
1. Who are Sisteray?
Four chancers in an indie/garage band from London.
2. How would you describe your sound and who are your main influences?
Our influences range from the obvious Velvet Underground, who’s song, 'Sister Ray', is where we nicked our name from. The Smiths are a big influence, partly due to the nature of their lyrics conjured up with living in grey, bleak London suburbia. Other influences include The Strokes, The Pogues and The Only Ones to name but a few.
3. Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?
We’re very much a band that’s always in the moment. We’ve always dreamed of heading Reading and Leeds, so I guess that’s a tangible goal. We want to live inside people’s hearts, make a lot of new friends and inspire people that, if four lads that have had no musical lessons ever, can pick up some instruments and cause an impact, then anyone can do it!
4. What's next for Sisteray?
To finish this tour (Portsmouth, Stoke, Essex and London are next on the list), then we'll hit the studio and get back on the road again! We love playing live and connecting with fans and really aim to get as many people involve with us as possible, the stage invasion at our single launch was testament.
5. Where can we hear more from you?
The best place is probably our website: www.sisteray.com
