Introducing... The Masquerade

We recently caught up with Manchester pop/punk five piece, The Masquerade. After releasing their self titled debut EP back in February and recently signing with Deadlock PR, the punk rockers futures are looking bright, so, we thought we'd grab an interview with the band in question.

1. Who are The Masquerade?

The Masquerade are a 5 piece pop / punk / alt-rock band from Manchester, consisting of Jake Corrigan on vocals, Daisy Newman on rhythm guitar and vocals, Danny Pheasey on lead guitar, Daniel Ciapa on bass guitar and Alex Holt on the drums.

2. You released your self titled debut EP in February, tell us a little about this?

The tracks on the EP are a selection of material we wrote during quite a long period of time, which you can hear in the sound as it portrays how we've developed over time, both as a band and as musicians. We wanted our first release to have a little something for everyone on there, in the hope that it'll appeal to a wider audience.

3. You recently signed with Deadlock PR, how did this come about?

Yeah, we heard about Deadlock through fellow musicians and knew they were a relatively new pr company. But, with lots of experience behind them, which got us excited about working with them and hopefully we can be beneficial to each other.

4. Who are your biggest inspirations musically?

For Danny and Alex the main inspirations are very much rooted in the pop punk scene with the likes of Blink 182, Green Day, New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, The Story So Far and Chunk No Captain Chunk. As for Daisy, her inspirations are the likes of Paramore and The 1975, you know, those kind of popular pop/rock bands. Finally, Jake is mainly and heavily influenced by Biffy Clyro.

5. Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?

In 5 years time? Hopefully being signed, on the road and releasing an album or three.

6. What's next for The Masquerade?

The next thing for us is to keep doing the odd show or two here and there to keep us on the scene, but, really just knuckling down with writing our second EP. We have the first song complete, just needing to put the finishing touches on the others and then we'll be back in the studio.

Huge thanks to The Masquerade for the interview.
