We caught up with West Midlans based pysch and indie rock influenced quartet Holy this week. The four piece influeced via the likes of Bob Dylan, The War On Drugs and The Beatles have recently released their new track along with its video, 'Firebreather', and were up for a short chat about it as well as a little on themselves.
1.Who are Holy?
Holy are four twenty-somethings from Middle Earth, who play psych influenced indie rock.
2. Who are your biggest inspirations musically?
The most important would probably be Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The War On Drugs, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Libertines, and The Beatles. Basically old men or bands whose names start with “The.”
3. You recently released your new track, 'Firebreather', along with it's video. Tell us a little about this?
Killing Moon were kind enough to put Firebreather on their New Moon’s Vol II compilation last month, and a few of our friends filmed a recent hometown show for the video footage. While it isn’t strictly speaking a “single” as we aren’t releasing it as a stand alone, it’s our first foray into the internet’s ocean of obscure bands and gives people something to listen to while we work on getting our first release together.
4. Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?
I just asked a magic 8 ball that question and it replied with “Outlook not so good.” Luckily we don’t use Microsoft’s email client, so if we stick to gmail all should be fine.
5. What's next for Holy?
We’re currently planning 2015, which will involve releasing our first single proper and lots of shows. Follow us on www.facebook.com/weareholy or @we_are_holy on Twitter to hear about it first.
Big thanks to Holy for the interview.
