For this weeks main feature, we caught up with the founding member of Oasis, Paul Arthurs, otherwise known as Bonehead. Since the split of Oasis back in August of 2009 following an unpleasent altercation between the two men at the front, Paul featured in Manchester band The Vortex between 2009 and 2010 before leaving in October of 2010, it has since been quiet for the once and still loved guitarist of one of the greatest bands the World has ever and will ever see. Until, Paul and Alex Lipinski teamed up to form a new band, Phoney and The Freaks quite recently. Following the release of the duo's debut EP, the future is looking bright for The Freaks but since the split of Beady Eye, all the talk of course has been about the eagerly anticipated re-forming of Oasis. So, we caught up with man in question to talk about a few things Phoney and The Freaks and Oasis.
1. First of all, you were the founding member of the legendary Oasis. Tell us how it was working with Noel and Liam?
Working with Noel and Liam was, as you can imagine, a real pleasure.
Noel's songwriting combined with Liam's vocal made for one of the best groups to come out of the UK. As people they were two totally different characters, but we were all close as friends and that came out in the music.
2. You've recently started a new band with Alex Lipinski, Phoney and The Freaks, how's that going for you?
So far, it's going good. Our debut EP has come out to good acclaim and we'll be trekking out on tour soon and hopefully be getting our debut album recorded to coincide with that.
3. What can we expect from Phoneys and The Freaks in the future?
What you can expect, I think, is big songs and with real melody. Myself and Alex work well together and are really looking forward to recording the album. The EP is quite mid paced but some of the newer ideas we have are more up tempo and guitar driven, so there will be a bit of diversity on there.
4. Which of the numerous gigs you'd of played in your career so far has been your personal favourite?
Maine Road will probably have to be first, then Loch Lomond, followed by Knebworth and then Earls Court. There's been many, some I can't even remember.
5. Finally, you must get asked this every time.... Is there any chance of Oasis ever reforming?
You're asking the wrong person. I don't know.
We must say a huge thank you to Paul, A.K.A Bonehead for the interview. I guess, for now, all we can do is hope.
Until then...
