Jamie T - Rock City, Nottingham - 04/11/14 - Reviewed

We went to see Jamie T at his sold out date in Nottingham on Tuesday, as the much loved tearaway cockney performed to a vibrant and extremely loud crowd at Rock City.

Jamie played out a mesmirising 21-song-long set, incorporating the best of both his new and old material. Opening with the ever sounding better 'Limits Lie', Jamie went on to play:

  • Don't You Find

  • Earth, Wind & Fire

  • Peter

  • Turn On the Light

  • Salvador

  • Hocus Pocus

  • So Lonely Was the Ballad

  • Pacemaker

  • The Prophet

  • Rabbit Hole

  • Emily's Heart

  • Back In the Game

  • The Man's Machine

  • Spider's Web

  • 368

  • They Told Me It Rained

  • If You Got the Money

  • Sheila

  • Zombie

  • Sticks 'N Stones

Each track was greeted with a ruptious sing along from the sold out crowd, of whom moshed and bounced 'til the curfew as Jamie outplayed a spine tingling performance. Highlights from the set included, 'Limits Lie', 'Hocus Pocus', 'Back In the Game', 'Spiders Web', 'Sheila, 'Zombie' and inevitably, 'Sticks 'N Stones'. As always, Jamie has never sounded pitch perfect live, he often goes off the road a tad, forcing you to wonder which track it is he is actually playing, but, thats part of the thrill of it. Yeah, he did that whole missing a line thing once or twice as he struggled to assign which position of which he was going to sing into the mic in, but boy, he was blummin' brilliant. 'Hocus Pocus' got the ground shaking to the raw sound of Jamie's vocals and the out of tune guitars whilst 'Emily's Heart' forced the arms of all inside Rock City to be raised and to be swayed to Jamie's softer nature, before exploding into the encore which once again caused the ground to shake and almost saw the balcony collapse as Jamie performed for the first time on the tour the much loved 'Sheila', as well as 'Zombie' and of course, 'Sticks 'N Stones'.

Jamie T sent shivers down the spine of all in Nottingham whilst also almost causing a few to break theirs as he played out an incredible, nostalgic set.
