Simon Cowell, the man behind ITV's popular talent contest, X Factor. Otherwise known as the music murderer, as friendly as this man may seem, what's hidden beneath is his incredibly poor taste in 'music', if you could even call it that.
Each year, Simon Cowell runs the X Factor in aid of discovering Britains finest singer or singers, to then exploit their talent to the masses and earn himself another Christmas number one.
But, what Cowell struggles to understand is, 'bands' and artists such as One Direction, James Arthur, Jedward and Wagner aren't quite as good as he thinks they're. In the music industry today there are numerous of much much better bands and artists working their socks off to only play venues the size of 02 Academy Brixton, which of course is an incredible achievement for any band or artist but in comparison to the likes of One Direction playing the 02 for example, it seems kind of unfair. Not only this, but the incredible amounts of their own money that the majority of bands and artists fork out to purchase their instruments, recording studios, to play gigs and provide merchandise is unthinkable compared to the money Simon Cowell provides artists such as One Direction with, to sing about the crush they had when they were 16 in a recording studio a 100x the size of no other and guitars that when they perform with manage to play without even being plugged in to an amp.
Also, another thing Mr. Cowell appears to believe is much more important than the actual musical ability of the artists he offers recording deals to is of course, their appearance. It seems as though in this day and age, if you have an ice gem on your head and you wear a vest top to show of your shocking and meaningless tattoos, despite the fact of the matter is that you actually need to be able to sing or play an instrument, you'll most probably still be Simon Cowell's Christmas number one. Admittedly, some of the bands and artists in the inudstry today aren't the finest lookers but why should this be an issue? If musical talent is judged purely on musical talent the chances are the charts would be a heck of a lot different.
To Simon Cowell, music is non existent. After all of his years within the music industry he is still struggling to understand that a band must actually be able to play instruments and a singer must also be able to sing and not only be judged upon their appearance. Sooner or later Mr. Cowell must realise that screaming girls who call gigs 'concerts' haven't quite matured enough yet to understand what music really is.
Until then, I guess we'll just have to sit and wait.
