Introducing... Darktrain

We caught up with Brighton based indietronica duo, Darktrain, this week. The pair from the south coast are looking to spread the CHVRCHES inspired soundwaves accross the nation and around the World and were up for a little chat on who they're and what they're all about.

1. Who are DarkTrain?

Lauren Bateman of Kent and Marcel Ino of Toronto, Canada. An indietronica duo based in Brighton.

2. Who would you say are your biggest musical influences?

We discovered CHVRCHES together and loved how they used eighties style analog sounds in a modern way. We got inspired by this exciting innovative sound and came together to do something in a similar vein but with a darker undertone, fusing our other influences: Ulrich Schnauss, M83, LadyTron and Sisters Of Mercy.

3. DarkTrain were born and bred in Brighton, also the same hometown of Royal Blood, do you feel as though you can emulate their success?

Being an artist you accept and embrace a life of poverty. It's not so much a career choice as it is just who you are, and you're unable to do anything else. It's an itch that'll drive you crazy if not scratched. With that said, it would be nice not to have to work clerk jobs to support our music and just devote all of our time to our craft.

4. Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?

Pretty much doing the same thing but with better equipment - and hopefully an album under our belt.

5. What's next for DarkTrain?

Some more shows, come check us out.

Huge thanks to Darktrain for the interview.
