It's been a year and a bit since Arcade Fire released their epitifying record, 'Reflektor'. It was to be the day Arcade Fire began 'taking themselves too seriously' and good on 'em. Fitted in reflective attire, Arcade Fire set out on a huge World tour that saw them embark on almost every nation you can think of and 'Afterlife', proved to be one of the highlights for many, both on the album and live.
It is a wonder as to why? Not so much.
'Afterlife' is an exubarating 5 minutes and 52 seconds of music. Some kind of magic to the ears that makes you just dance around and not give a single ounce of thought, a feeling of eternal happiness that forever builds into an explosion of life and colour within the mind that clears the memory of all things and allows you to focus on one thing and one thing only, the brilliance of Arcade Fire. It's hard to describe the sound of 'Afterlife' and what creates it, as all it appears to be is a mixture of all of the 16 instruments each of the Candians can play, coming together to form the most incredible mess of a sound ever.
'Afterlife' will for sure go down as one of Win Butler and co's best tracks, and even if 'Reflektor' were to be the last album from the geeks of Montreal, it's legacy will most certainly live on long after their musical lives.
