We've waited a while, but finally, Spector are back with their new track, 'Don't Make Me Try'. Fred Macpherson and co burst onto the scene in 2012 with their explosive debut album, 'Enjoy It While It Lasts'. Though unfortunately, it lasted a little longer than hoped. Following the depature of Chris Burman from the band, Spector had to regroup and understandably so. Since known as Spectfour, they're back and with a more seemingly chilled out approach.
Still, we're unsure this'll last long. Known for their volcano-like indie anthems we more than expect Spector to follow up 'Don't Make Me Try' with something a little more revved up, despite it's brilliance.
'Don't Make Me Try' portrays Spector's more majestic sound, as previously exploited within the likes of 'Lay Low' and 'Grim Reefer' on 'Enjoy It While It Lasts'. It provides solid evidence that Spector aren't just a band who make them loud and catchy tracks that the kids'll go mad for and that they have somewhat of a more varying talent that appeals to a wider audience, something all bands and artists must take into consideration at a point within their careers. Though as Fred sings his way through what sounds like post-relationship troubles, he informs of a "Chevy in the parking lot outside", which indicates to us that sooner or later some 'Chevy Thunder' like tracks will be on the way. We hope.
'Don't Make Me Try' is a fantastic indicator that Spectors second album is set to be another cracker.
