The Soon to be Illustrious Lusts

Formed in the burrows of Leicester, compiled together by brothers Andy and James Stone, Lusts are hoping to emulate the success of fellow Leicesterians like Kasabian, and with their uplifting, shoegaze pop style proving an immediate success, the future is looking startlingly bright for the two piece.

Duo's have become a prominent theme within the industry of late, prior to the explosion onto the scene from Royal Blood in 2014, and the arrival of the likes of Slaves and Drenge, it was mainly down to The Black Keys and The White Stripes to be the poster faces of two-piece rock n'roll.

But with the arrival of Lusts, the duo category appears to be becoming an increasingly more popular and stronger area of music. With echo's of the Bunnymen and engineered grit like Oasis, the brothers debut tracks have earned them the title of the Guardians, 'Band of the Week' and Q Magazine's 'Track of the Day' with their first single, 'Temptation'. Uploaded to SoundCloud only a couple weeks back, the four songs have couped together over 20,000 plays, as Lusts and their synth orchestrated, smooth rock n'roll prowess continues to spread through iPhone and computer speakers up and down the country. The debut single, 'Temptation', of which is to be released via the newly revamped and restored 1965 Records in March, opens with a wish-wosh kinda riff and breathes the beat of an anthem throughout. 'Sometimes' is similar to that of 'Temptation', a track of which possess all the right ingredients to be an anthem. Jumping straight in with a mind-sparking sound that seems to ignite a light in your brain that forces you to get up, move around and have your own karaoke. 'Waves', coincidentally, is like a wave of pyschedelic synth that pushes it's beat back and forth until it's tide of chilled out listening goes back out.

Finally, 'Cross', a purely instrumental track that reminds us of 'You Could Easily Have Me' by Metronomy, not in the sense of its sound but in the idea of it being such a brilliant piece of music, no lyrics are needed to accompany it's meaning and is produced soley to identify the sound of Lusts. A tame beast that is sure set to roar in 2015.
