We caught up with BABIES this week to chat all things FIFA, new music and bagels. This is how it went down.
1. How's things been going since we last spoke?
"Things have been going goood.. We just mostly been playing FIFA, writing new songs, eating bagels, breaking strings, buying pedals, wearing comfy clothes,having haircuts, doing some drinks, giving pizza to homeless dudes, looking for fun people and trying new stuff out, as well as the occasional gig.. ive just almost sorted the most exciting gig (for us anyway) were we will be supporting 2 proppperr fuckin rad bands.. And we had time to get close and intimate with our mates TRASH who are sound guys making sweet music..."
2. You've been playing a few gigs in around your native area of late, how have these been going? Are you looking to venture further afield in the near future at all?
"Yeah we have been a bit local cos we wanted to sort out our set and get some new stuff done for the EP. We've booked ourselves a tour in march which we cant fuckin wait to do.. We are playing Hull, Sheffield, Manchester, Leicester, London and Leeds so should be funtimes."
3. We hear you're to bring out a new EP soon, can you fill us in on this?
"Yeah well the EP is called 'SINK' and we have just finished demoing for it. Id say the songs are different then what we have had out before, like we probably have put more thought into them. We literally cant wait, were stoked to be doing it at beat street in Leeds which is a sick studio... Theres 3 new songs on the EP called 'SINK', 'TEETH' and 'BEACH DATE (WHEN YR DEAD)'.. we have been bouncing loads of ideas between each other and those are the ones that seemed to stick.. If everything goes as it should we will be releasing 'BEACH DATE (WHEN YR DEAD') as the first single at the beginning of March."
4. How would you describe your forthcoming release?
"Like I said its a bit different, theres a lot of different influences, like TEETH started out as some kind of bad rap which fortunately Ryan changed around a bit. SINK is kinda like hiphop versus pixies and I was trying to work a way to use a sample in it but not sure if that will happen.. BEACH DATE is a faster 1 with some proper sick drumming from Sam and shreddin."
5. What's next for BABIES?
"Next well who knows??? think were just hoping people dig the EP and then we can go from there. We need to make a video in the next few weeks but cant decide on a definite idea.. Anyone with a camera should get in touch!"
