Haven't yet heard of Jim Valentine? Well we are all but sure that's about to change following the release of 'Tripetta'. This new one from the Glaswegians could easily be mistaken for a bonus track off AM due to its effortless, humble nature. A shockwave of mature Britpop is cannoned through your ears as the Jims masterclass their unique, gritty and risque swagger that we feel is set to blow the "knee socks" off Arctic Monkeys and 2015.
Born and bred in Scotland, that raw, grey, and bitter stereotypical attitude to the North is most certainly swallowed up and spat out in an incredible fashion by the four-piece. Offering loud, yet madjestically engineered tunes is what Jim Valentine are becoming known for. Following the success of 'Make You Mine' and 'Hello', 'Tripetta' is set to follow that trend. A swarve track executed beneath an aggressive mask, it reminds us of giving your Merc a boy-racer upgrade. Over-powered exhausts, the odd tinted window and one or two racing stripes on the bonnet that somehow manage to merge beautifully within the humble nature of the iconic hood and charismatic German style. Chugging bass tones like Oasis alongside a brutal, effortless racket like The Libertines is blended in with AM era Turner and co. and a momentary blips of Britpop nostalgia somewhere within the midst of its power that we're sure will grip you as much as it does us.
We're still struggling to understand how a band so new on the block can sound as though they've been in the business for years, but somehow, Jim Valentine have mastered their trade and executed it with such perfect precision that we can't imagine them asking us to premiere their tracks for much longer.
