We caught up with the newly formed quartet Velour this week, a band branded simply by themselves as a 'rock band from Grimsby'. Though there is nothing as yet officially released by the four-piece, demo's on their Facebook page as well as various gig announcments coinciding with forthcoming studio sessions veer towards a bright future for the band. This is how it went down.
1. Who are Velour?
We are an alternative rock band consisting of Ben Ayres, Joshua Peart, Cameron McCall and Jack Gray.
2. Who are your biggest musical inspirations?
Our biggest inspirations are probably the newer acts on the block such as Peace and Superfood, which gives us a greater sense of experimentation.
3. How would you describe your sound?
A funky white boy jazz metal fest.
4. You're debuting live with fellow Grimsby band The Brookes very soon, are you looking forward to getting out there in front of a crowd?
We're all very excited, it will give us chance to play our own material as well as a few of our favourite covers. We also have dates confirmed at The Warehouse in Grimsby, O'Neils in Cleethorpes and The Spiders Web in Scunthorpe.
5. Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?
Touring. Grimsby, England, Europe and the World.
6. What's next for Velour?
Our first release is coming up in February, alongside many many more gigs.
