The track starts with a shimmering psychedelic intro featuring some crisp, graceful vocals. Soon the solid rhythm of the track kicks in giving further strength and grit to the music for a while before another atmospheric interlude where the vocals again come to the fore. As the music again takes pace, led by the drums, The Sundowners launch into the main part of the track, the psychedelic rock rhythms, given further definition by the addition of tambourine to the piece.
I thought this verged on what would at one time would have been called ‘soft rock’ and would have liked the psychedelic tinge to the track developed further, but on the whole it came through well. The female vocals have enough bite to make the track interesting, but I thought the lyrics got a bit repetitive towards the end. This Wirral band have been making a name for themselves with recent gigs as far afield as Brighton and are a band with plenty of potential. If your tastes run to the softer side of psychedelia/rock you should give them a listen, as what they do, they do very well. The band have a self-titled album released by Skeleton Records if you fancy listening to more.
