This aural assault from Stevenage’s Bad Breeding, drum-heavy and full of political angst fairly nails the bands colours to the mast.
Vocally, like a sinister version of Slaves, the shouted lyrics force the message into your brain. More full-on punk than post-punk, this track, a double A-side with ‘Age of Nothing’ is not for the faint hearted. There is nothing wishy-washy here, just a riot of solid noise with a rhythm to quicken the heart and rouse the languid from their slumber.
If real, 1970’s style punk is your bag, you probably already love this track from Bad Breeding. If you want a foray onto the genre without harking back to the past this is a band you should try. The music is fast and vital enough to reveal punk’s still beating heart and to show those who think the genre should be dead and buried how wrong they are. This abrasive, blistering track is very fine indeed.
