We caught up with Glaswegian duo, Acting Strange this week. The two-piece, influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan and The Beatles have recently released their debut single, 'Dreaming Away', and were up for a short chat about it and themselves. Introducing... Acting Strange.
1. Who are Acting Strange?
Two 60's plagiarists, recording on a Tascam 8 track in Glasgow.
2. How would you describe your sound?
We wanted to do our version of a basement tapes style idea. Drivey acoustic music. Cheap keyboards through guitar pedals for a bit of homemade fuzz.
3. You've recently released your debut single, 'Dreaming Away', tell us a little about this track?
This is the track we first decided to collaborate on. It was written after a weekend of sleep deprivation and keeping unholy hours. We recorded it on an acoustic then layered it up on the 8 track. There's a bit of George Harrison influenced slide guitar before the 2nd chorus.
4. Who are your main influences?
The Beatles, Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan and the band's basement tapes, The Libertines.
5. Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?
We would like to have our own range of salad dressing like Paul Newman, our faces on the label.
6. What's next for Acting Strange?
To attempt to figure out how to play the songs live.
7. Where can we hear more from you?
Check us out on SoundCloud (/actingstange), we'll probably put some more songs out soon, hopefully put them out as an album.
