As Kendal Calling sold out this week, we thought we’d take a look at a few artists on the lineup that you lot may fancy seeing this summer. Headliners Snoop Dogg, Elbow and Kaiser Chiefs are sure to attract large numbers to the fields in August, but we’re recommending three top acts a tad further down the bill that you’d be foolish to miss:
Bipolar Sunshine:
Manchester-based Bipolar Sunshine, a pseudonym of Adio Marchant, formerly of Kid British, released his debut EP, 'Aesthetics', in 2013, and has since
attracted attention from the likes of The Courteeners. Anyone who caught Bipolar Sunshine at Reading and Leeds last year will know what to expect from his festival show – feelgood, upbeat indie pop with a groove. This year’s debut album is sure to gain Marchant some serious exposure, so any lovers of soulful tones and baggy beats are implored to catch Bipolar Sunshine at Kendal Calling this year.
Blossoms:
We last spoke of Blossoms when they released their brilliant single ‘Cut Me and I’ll Bleed’ a few weeks back. Since then they’ve played SXSW in Austin, Texas, and sold out a headline show at London’s Barfly. Headlining the Tim Peaks Stage at Kendal Calling, Stockport’s finest will charm any fans of psych-tinged British pop music this summer. Be sure to catch them before they grace the bigger stages next summer.
Man Made:
Led by Nile Marr, son of The Smiths legend Johnny, Man Made’s sound has been described as ‘a blend of calm, spacious vocals, layered over solid drums and jangling guitars’. Their live reputation has developed from their extensive touring of the UK, including residencies at Manchester’s famous Night and Day Café. Man Made are gaining momentum fast, so see the show while the buzz is on. They join the bill at Kendal this summer.
