Pissinboy - She's the One - Reviewed

‘She’s the One’, a track taken from the album ‘Emily’ by the band Pissinboy, has a pleasing simplicity to it. The keyboards that lead us into the main part of the song may be nothing fancy, but they set us up for the pop-punk music and vocals. Slightly discordant, the vocals and guitars give the track enough edge to pull it above the mainstream. This is a good, honest track, just a plain love song with no agenda, the sort of thing to get you humming along and tapping your feet. The chorus is catchy, the music sunny. It’s an undemanding track, which is both its strength and its downfall. I like it, but I’m not sure if I’ll be listening to it next month. It’s the lighter side of pop-punk, and some will find it lacks the necessary vitality to make their playlists.

I’m not so sure. There should always be a place for music that just makes you feel happy. There is an awful lot of doom and gloom in the ‘alternative’ genre, and music like this goes some way towards redressing the balance. ‘She’s the One’ is solid and pretty at the same time. It has a sunswept feel, hinting that summer is just around the corner, as it is great summer music. It’s the sort of track that makes you think about lazy days spent lounging round outside because it is too hot to do anything meaningful. Maybe I will just save listening to it for days like those.
