Track of the Week #43 - Go!Zilla - Melting

This new song, ‘Melting’, from Italian band Go!Zilla shows both garage punk and 60s influences, giving the music urgency and sparkle. The frantic pace kicks in immediately, setting the musical agenda before the guitars begin overlaying their wailing riffs across the bare skeleton of the track. The vocals bring a more psychedelic edge to the piece, but they suit the music perfectly. The garage/punk vibe kicks back in as the track progresses. Add to the mix a belter of a rhythm section and a catchy chorus and you begin to wonder where this band have been hiding themselves away. They are so good, it seems impossible that they’re not at the forefront of the current psych/punk scene.

'Melting’ is offered as a taster track from the album ‘Sinking in Your Sea’ set to be released on April 15 on Bandcamp. The album features 10 tracks and is available on both vinyl, digital downloaded included, and CD. If every track is as good as ‘Melting’, this should be one of the strongest albums of the year in the psych punk genre. Go!Zilla are certainly a band I’ll be watching from now on, and I’m looking forward to ‘Sinking in Your Sea’, and especially ‘Melting’, forming part of my Spring playlist of 2015.
