We caught up with Howland this week, a quartet from Southampton who's debut release, 'Waiting For You', is going down a storm. The four-piece, inspired by the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen and the legendary Oasis are supporting Neon Waltz at The Joiners in their hometown on the 12th April and were up for a quick chat about it as well as a little on themselves. Introducing... Howland.
1. Who are Howland?
Howland are an indie rock four-piece from Southampton, made up of front man Torrin Rees, guitarist Lee Vincent, bassist Tim Beavis and drummer Ben Roe who are trying to make something of themselves across the South Coast.
2. Who are your biggest musical inspirations?
Our biggest musical inspirations range from the likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes to Catfish and The Bottlemen, Circa Waves and The Pigeon Detectives.
3. You recently unveiled your debut track, 'Waiting For You'. How has the response been so far?
The response has been crazy for such a small band like us so far! We're really proud of it but we didn't expect to get tweets off people we've never met saying how much they love it.
4. Where do you see yourselves in five years time?
In five years time, we hope to be well established and selling out tours all over.
5. What's next for Howland?
In July we're going to bring out our debut EP which will be recorded and produced by Chris Peden from Wild Smiles, a well known band from Southampton who also produced for a Southampton band called Fever.
6. Where can we hear and find out more about you?
At the moment the only way you can hear more about us is by coming to our gigs! We play The Joiners in Southampton on the 12th April with Neon Waltz, so come down to that!
