We had a chat with Spanish solo artist Weinf this week. Based in Barcelona and inspired by the likes of Julian Casablancas and Bob Dylan, Weinf released his 'Demo' on SoundCloud three months ago, featuring the tracks; 'You And I Are Dead', 'Whiskey', 'The Basement' and 'Riding My Bicycle Through The Mexican Fields'. Here's what he had to say. Introducing... Weinf.
1. Who is Weinf?
I'm a creepy guy/songwriter from Barcelona, Spain. I released my first demo (self-recorded and self-produced) a while ago and now I'm recording some new tunes.
2. Who are your biggest musical influences?
Julian Casablancas, The Doors, Jack White, Bob Dylan, Morphine, The Fratellis, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Rolling Stones, among a bunch of others.
3. How would you describe your sound?
Well, I'd say it's got a bit of blues and a bit of indie-rock, but I'm not really sure about that. I find it very hard to put tags on my music (and to speak about myself really), so that's up to you guys!
4. Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Stealing dogs in the park and reselling them to their owners. That or playing music. But most likely the dog thing.
5. What's next for Weinf?
I'm currently recording two singles to release ASAP. It's almost done and I'm really happy with the results so far, so keep an eye!
6. Where can we hear and find out more about you?
Well, there's my Facebook page where I put my news and that kind of stuff and a Twitter account I barely use. There's also my Bandcamp, where I post my music and you can buy/listen to it so my children can eat this week - or SoundCloud if you're into that.
