If you're not aware that Glastonbury has begun, you must be living under one hefty rock. The Eavis Family's annual festival on Worthy Farm opened its gates early Wedensday morning, with the majority of campers flooding through on the first day, all trying to pitch the best spot. This years line-up has raised a few eyebrows to say the least, predominantly down to Kanye West's headline slot on the Pyramid, but we're now though going to take a glance away from the headliners and pick our top five to see elsewhere. Whether you'll be out in the fields, or sat on your sofa, make sure you catch these lot this weekend.
1. Future Islands - the Other Stage - 17:15 pm, Sunday.
Baltimore's finest Future Islands make their Glastonbury debut this year on the Other Stage, bringing their charismatic live performance accross the Atlantic with them. Lead singer Samuel T. Herring, well known for his enthusiatic moves will front the band as they aim to please their first British festival crowd. Future Islands have so far released four albums, with the latest, 'Singles', being the one that captured the attention of many. 'Seasons (Waiting On You)', taken from the album was voted NME's track of last year and has become their biggest hit to date. Be sure to catch these or you'll probably regret it for the rest of your life.
2. The Cribs - the Other Stage - 12:30 pm, Friday.
Sticking with the Other Stage and we have the Cribs to look forward to. Despite their relatively early slot, expect there to be a huge crowd for this band of brothers. Gary, Ryan and Ross returned this year with new album, 'For All My Sisters' and ever since the hype has been high once again. On the go for the best part of 13 years now, the explosive three-piece will have more than a few hits to get you going early in the day.
3. Spector - Williams Green Stage - 15:30 pm, Saturday.
Spector return to Glastonbury this year, performing a mid-afternoon slot on the Williams Green Stage. In anticipation of the bands forthcoming second album, we dubbed now as the time for the band, so make sure you catch the quartet before they really begin to take off. Fronted by Fred Macpherson, Spector are a band full of vibrancy and their live sets do not disappoint. Get yourself down the front for a dance, you won't regret it.
4. Hooton Tennis Club - Williams Green Stage - 15:30 pm, Friday.
Back with the Williams Green and once again at 15:30, we see the Hooton Tennis Club take the stage. The Cribs-esque quartet from Liverpool will bring their much credited lively and youtful performance to Worthy Farm for their debut Glastonbury appearence this year, but don't expect this to be their last. Catch this band before they explode onto the big time.
5. The Courteeners - the Other Stage - 19:30, Friday.
Last of all, Manchester band the Courteeners. Fresh from their biggest gig to date, playing to a sold out Heaton Park crowd, Liam Fray and his band are out to smash Glastonbury. Filled with plenty of Manc influence, the Courteneers will be sure to showcase their biggest hits such as 'Not Nineteen Forever' and 'Are You In Love With A Notion?' as well as tracks from their latest album, 'Concrete Love'. Be sure to catch what's bound to be another showstopping performance from the four-piece.
