Introducing... Memory Man

We caught up with Memory Man this week. Featuring ex-Snow Patrol bassist Mark McClelland, Memory Man have just released their new single 'In Praha' and are set to play King Tuts in Glasgow next week (17th July). Introducing... Memory Man.

In Praha

1. Who are Memory Man?

Paul - We're a group of gentlemen old enough to know better. Our names are Paul Mellon (Guitarist), Stephen Connelly (Vocalist), Mark McClelland (Bass) and Liam McAteer (Drums).

2. Who are your biggest musical influences?

Paul - Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan, everybody Chaka Khan. Liam - I'm more of a fan of Bloc Party and Biffy fan personally, but it depends on collectively bringing a sound together that works. Stephen - I like Scott Walker, Sparks, The Fall etc, we see our music to have similar style to the likes of The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, Low & Dinosaur Jr. in terms of influence though.

3. How would you describe your sound?

Stephen - Essentially we make indie pop music, however with there being such an eclectic mix of influences across the band we try to subtley incorporate them into the music. Post punk, prog, post rock etc if you listen closely they are all in there and it works rather well.

4. Where do you see yourselves in five years time?

Liam - Bands have become increasingly throw away these days and we're no exception. In 5 years we'd like to have put out a couple of decent albums then call it quits gracefully, before we start writing tunes about lost weekends in Prague..... Oh.

5. What's next for Memory Man?

Paul - Well we just released our new single 'In Praha' last week, which is available on iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/in-praha-single/id1013956690

We are going on to play King Tut's Summer Nights on the 17th of July, so are looking forward to that. Then aim to have our new EP out shortly after. It's currently being recorded and almost ready for human consumption so it will be with you soon!

6. Where can we hear/find out more from you?

Paul - You can find us on Facebook and Twitter we usually make an effort to engage with our audiences so are always active on social media. Also check out our music via Soundcloud or Bandcamp.
