Introducing... Proper

We caught up with mod/power pop, early Who-esque London quartet Proper this week. Introducing... Proper.

1. Who are Proper?

Proper are a mod/power pop band from London. Formed in March 2015 and managed by legendary mod/soul DJ Dave Edwards:

Ivano Bonfanti, vocals and guitar.

Joe Duggan, guitar.

Jeremy Payne, bass.

Len Fleckney, drums.

Len played drums with several bands, including Eleanor Rigby and Long Tall Shorty, whilst Ivano was in the later line-up of the Direction, a London based mod revival band of the 90's.

2. How would you describe your sound?

Our sound is pretty much in line with the British post-punk/mod/power pop wavelengths. Our own material is based on fast paced songs with a catchy melody.

3. Who are your biggest musical influences and inspirations?

Too many to mention, but let's say The High Numbers/early Who, The Jam, The Redskins, The Fallen Leaves, Squire, just to name a few.

4. Where do you see yourselves in five years time?

Touring and signed to a label.

5. What's next for Proper?

Following our first EP recorded last April we are currently rehearsing for live gigs and we will

go back to the recording studio next month to record our next single which will be produced once again by the legendary Pat Collier and Dave Edwards.

6. Where can we find out/hear more from you?

Currently we have 3 songs ('Magical', 'Lucky Things' and 'Today, Tomorrow') on Soundcloud but we are about to release a single on CD and vinyl.
