We caught up with The Black Sparrows this week, a band of whom describe there sound as "four blokes arguing over pints of Guinness in some awful late night boozer". Though trust us, its not as bad as they make it sound. Introducing... The Black Sparrows.
1. Who are The Black Sparrows?
The Black Sparrows are London's finest undiscovered boys.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Four blokes arguing over pints of Guinness in some awful late night boozer. Though a mate recently gave us a slightly more flattering description of 'dancey punk n' roll'. Should we go with that one instead?
3. Who are your biggest musical influences and inspirations?
If we asked our lead singer he'd probably say Buzzcocks, or the Libertines, he might even be soppy enough to say Billy Bragg. The lead guitarist would say Dillinger Escape Plan though. Sort of gives the idea of the somewhat fractious nature of the band, but apparently one of the collective nouns for a sparrow is a 'quarrel', which certainly gives an accurate description after a couple of hours in the practice room.
4. Where do you see yourselves in five years time?
Rehab or ruining an awards show with an overly long acceptance speech. Maybe both could work?
5. What's next for The Black Sparrows?
After a couple years of late nights and shouting at each other in pubs, we've finally managed to finish our first full length album (which hopefully your mob will be kind enough to review at some point). I guess we'll be flogging that to anyone that's willing or foolish enough to give the band a listen. And gigging a lot of course. Would you happen to know any decent promoters?
6. Where can we find out/hear more from you?
blacksparrows.co.uk is probably the easiest. The full album is up for steaming right now though at http://tinyurl.com/nwub2o7.
