Introducing... Idle Frets

Idle Frets have been gaining momentum lately, after having being featured in the latest Flying Vinyl box, their catchy, stirring and crowd pleasing music is finally getting some well deserved recognition. Their new single 'Lifeline' has just come out and they are already geared up to release another. I caught up with them last week for a quick Q&A.

Idle Frets

1. Who are Idle Frets?

Idle Frets are an indie band from Chester. Formed in Chester in 2011, they have spent the majority of the last four years relentlessly gigging, snapping up opportunities and spreading like wildfire. Come 2015 and a new line-up, their intuitive new direction and sound has seen then poking their head above the parapet of the local scene in the North West and scoring some serious support slots.

Ben Davies - Guitar, Lead Vocals David Hennessy - Guitar Luke Lewis - Bass, Backing Vocals Erin Gibson - Drums, Backing Vocals 2. How would you describe your sound?

We make music that we enjoy, I guess you could call it 'indie' but then again that's what most music falls under nowadays.

3. Who are your biggest musical influences and inspirations?

Imagine The 1975, Peace and Catfish and The Bottlemen had a baby.

4. You’ve just released your new single 'Lifeline', what is the story behind it?

It's about being there for someone and being there unconditionally. It's a reassurance that no matter what, you'll be there. But at the same time it is telling that person that they can't treat you like shit.

5. What is next for Idle Frets? Any album or EP plans?

We've got our third single 'Now You're Back' coming out in September, those who are signed up to Flying Vinyl will already have got a sneak peek. In terms of new material, we've got loads of tunes written and we're constantly writing. We should have our debut EP out early 2016 if everything goes to plan, so keep your eyes peeled. We have lots of exciting plans under the hood which we can't wait to show everyone!

6. If your music was a TV show, what TV show would it be?

Breaking Bad.
