Introducing... Pearl Charles

I caught up with L.A native Pearl Charles this week. The solo artist, who's already earned rave reviews from the likes of NME to Pitchfork, looks all set for a glistening future. Introducing... Pearl Charles.

Who is Pearl Charles?

I'm just a California girl who loves to write songs and play music!

How would you describe your sound?

This is a question I think every artist struggles with, it is hard to separate one's influences from the actual sound the band ends up creating but I saw someone else recently describe it as "Americana Psych Pop" and I was pretty satisfied with that description.

You've already earned praise from the likes of NME and Pitchfork, how does that feel to read about your music?

I am completely humbled to have publications like NME and Pitchfork pay attention to my music. It's difficult to get recognition when you're a new artist just starting out and every little bit counts so I'm just grateful to be acknowledged by the music media that I not only respect but actually read myself.

What's the aim?

I love writing and recording new songs and performing them for an audience, whether it be in a club or at a festival, so I just hope I can continue to working with the amazing band I've assembled on the road and in the studio!

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Every year that this project has existed it has progressed dramatically in every way and I am definitely thinking on a large, global scale so I hope to be touring around the world playing shows/festivals and recording with the producers that right now I'm only dreaming about!

What's next for Pearl Charles?

On Thursday September 10th a very limited 8" single will be released on Super Fan 99 Records in the UK and I'll be on tour in the Northwest United States (and a bit of Canada!) in November opening for the band Broncho!

Where can we we find out/hear more from you?

Just keep tuning into my social media for updates on shows and new music! I am constantly writing songs that will eventually be part of a full length album and we have lots more touring planned through the end of the year!
