Track of the Week #71& 72 - Editors - The Law

'The Law', track six of Editors' latest LP 'In Dream' - probably not everyone's first choice, but from my personal perspective, it's the finest on the album.

It's dark, lo-fi dream pop - everything Editors are famed for. It opens with grudging vocals from lead singer Tom Smith, accompanied with a blackened beat, before gliding into the chorus sung in a harmonic fashion by guest Rachel Goswell. "Don't let it get heavy, you are the law..." is repeated before Smith returns with another verse of pleasant doom and gloom. It's a track of contrasting emotions, a true electro pop spectacle. It may be slow, it may be dark - but it's blummin' brilliant.
