Track of the Week #73 & 74 - Cage the Elephant - Mess Around

Kentucky's finest Cage the Elephant earmarked their return in emphatic fashion this week with the release of new single, 'Mess Around'.

Taken from the bands forthcoming new album, 'Tell Me I'm Pretty', 'Mess Around' offers a delightful insight into what we can expect from the quartets fourth studio album. The new LP has been produced by no other than The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, and upon listening to 'Mess Around', it'd take a fool not to notice. It could easily slip into 'El Camino' if it tried, it's a raw and gritty track; with a lot of spice and a funky groove to it. It's classic Cage at times, ruthless and heavy, but the Auerbach touch is not to be looked upon disgruntledly - it's a great track, and is going to do no harm in cementing Matt Schultz and co's position as one of America's finest musical exports.
