My recent experience at Palma Violets' gig in Sheffield left me in awe of the atmosphere the upcoming band generated in such a small venue. After both support acts had finished preparing the audience the small mass of people in the crowd become increasingly agitated and were screaming for Palma Violets to begin there polished set of exciting songs. Before everyone had had the chance to refresh themselves and prepare for the night ahead, lead vocalist Thomas Fryer stormed the stage sporting one of his signature hats as he was followed by partnering frontman and guitarist Chilli Jesson. Drummer William Doyle and keyboardist Jeffery Mayhew took their places and began immediately pumping excitement into the already eager crowd.

The mixture of songs from '180' and 'Danger in the Club' energised the crowd until the end and there wasn’t a single person having a bad time. 'Rattlesnake Highway' ignited the crowd into a craze and the band wasted no time in gearing the crowd on, this was followed on with classics including 'Tom the Drum' and 'Best of Friends' which did the perfect job of raising the energy levels further. 'Step Up for Cool Cats' enhanced my Palma Violets experience and they certainly exceeded my expectations. Both frontman proceeded to reach into the audience which caused a manic storm of pushing as everyone was eager to get a closer look
As the set list neared towards the end the band continued to perform to the roaring standard they had started with, not allowing the crowd to settle yet. Once the intense performance had ended I was left feeling remarkably impressed from a band I didn’t perceive as able to produce such an experience. If you haven’t taken the time to see Palma Violets I urge you to go, this was £12 I do not regret spending.
