Charles Cave, 1/3 of White Lies, has recently unveiled what he's been up to in the downtime since the release of the London three piece's latest album, 'Big TV'.
'Reason To Drive' is its name and blimey, it's a cracker. The White Lies bassist has cooked up something that wouldn't sound too out of place on one of their own records. For a debut single, it's very mature; offering exquisitely mastered synth beats that intertwine with grasping vocals that one, unfortunately, only ever tends to hear as backing (no discredit to Harry Mcveigh, of course). There's something so strangely captivating about it, though it took me a few listens to truly get into it, I have never left its comforting clutch since.
Although we're all aware that there is a new White Lies album in the works, would it be greedy to ask for you to make some more, Charles?
