Cleethorpes quartet The Brookes are back and in explosive fashion. With a new look to the band and a much more varnished sound, their latest single ‘Time Traveler's Wife’ is going to do no harm in cementing their status as one of the finest up and coming artists around.
The new track, a Catfish and the Bottlemen paced Libertines-esque three minutes and nine seconds of rip-roaring modern era Britpop, is a clear message of intent from the four-piece. As lead singer Ben Keal argues with guitarist Joel in Pete Doherty / Carl Barat style, the group create a constant wall of sound; with guitars that sound as though they’re on a hunt, The Brookes appear to have gone from boy to man with this latest release. It then all falls silent. But, of course, this isn’t to be for long – it then erupts into one more massive bout of gale-force rock ‘n roll before grinding to a harmonic halt.
‘Time Traveler's Wife’ is a huge track that is all but sure going to set The Brookes up for a massive 2016.
