Blossoms - The Welly Club, Hull - Reviewed

The North West is famed for being the spiritual home of British music. The area has bred the likes of Oasis, The Courteeners and The Stone Roses to name but a few. 2013 though saw the birth of their latest talent, Blossoms. Named after their local in Stockport, the five piece are becoming a real cult band, with their synth imposed rock n'roll going down an absolute storm.

Blossoms

They brought their latest tour to Hull on Wednesday evening, performing a 9 song setlist to a packed-out Welly Club crowd. Highlights from the set featured 'Cut Me And I'll Bleed', 'At Most A Kiss', 'Blown Rose', 'Blow' and huge hit 'Charlemagne'. It was a hypnotising performance, Tom Ogden and co played with epic prowess, strutting around stage and oozing with confidence. Something felt very special, it was like everyone knew they were seeing the next big thing in music. It was rammed from front to back, with barely space to breath; and Blossoms did not let the sell-out crowd down. When paying respects to their friends Viola Beach, Blossoms were greatly received by the crowd; a cheer and around of applause rung round the venue. Despite what must be a difficult time for the band following the unfortunate tragedy in Sweden almost two weeks ago involving Viola Beach, Blossoms carried on, showing true grit and putting on a show not to forget. Be prepared 2016, this is Blossoms' year.

Blossoms played:
